Favorite Five Feature: Haus of Gloi

I have been wanting to feature some of my favorite Etsy sellers for some time, but could not quite decide how best to go about doing so. It wasn’t until the other day, when I found myself compiling a list of my favorite items from Haus of Gloi [instigator and perpetuator of bath and body product obsession] that I had my aHA! moment.

From now on, this blog will periodically feature an Etsy seller and five favorites from their shop. Sometimes, as in today’s case, the list will be comprised of products I have tried; other times, this list will consist of the five items I would most like to purchase. My hope is that this blog will help drive traffic to these exceptional Etsy sellers, who truly deserve all of the attention and business they can get.

Haus of Gloi

Since my first purchase, Haus of Gloi has consistently impressed me with the quality of their products and the appeal, complexity, and wearability of their scents. They offer cold-process soaps, sugar scrubs, perfumes, bathing dust, and soon to be lotions in a variety of these thoughtfully concocted scents – and they even sell samples of the scrubs and perfumes, for those of you (like me) who are a little commitment-phobic. I am constantly buying the little scrub samples (recently, I have been eyeing Britton’s newest catalog scent, Peach Mama, as well as anxiously awaiting her upcoming Spring scents).

Below, I have listed my five favorite Haus of Gloi scents, all of which I enthusiastically recommend:

1. Vice
Steam billows rolling off a vessel of fresh made Turkish coffee, marshmallow goo tainted by graham cracker crumbs, toasted hazelnuts and blanketed in black chocolate.
2. Satyr
Absolutely fiendish creature! And quite frolicsome: Italian blood orange drizzled with blackened vanilla.
3. Moon Dog
Solar storms erupt: pure cracked coconut, dry sandalwood heated with Indonesian nutmeg and a Singapore clove.
4. Elevenses
Not quite breakfast and not quite lunch, its the little sip and nibble in between! Bring out the old cracked china! Tiny, little, fluffy orange cakes, sugar coated toasty almonds and a wee steaming cup of black tea.
5. Picaroon
Sun scorched mahogany bough crusted with a crystalline sea spray! Faint plundered spices, lemongrass, coconuts, expressed Mexican lime, and Haitian bay rum.
Honorable Mention: Depravity, Honey Tree

Hello, 2010.

After a week of sickness following a holiday hiatus, I am finally back in action (and glad to be). Hope everyone is enjoying the new year thus far!
